Our Work

At Casa Alterna, we practice radical hospitality with vulnerable immigrants through housing, accompaniment, and formation. Our work is rooted in relationships, shared community, and the belief that every person deserves dignity, safety, and belonging.

Since 2006, we have walked alongside people navigating migration, displacement, detention, and rebuilding life in a new place. Some stay with us for a few nights. Others become neighbors and lifelong friends. Together, we create spaces of welcome, resilience, and faithful resistance.

Our work centers around three interconnected areas:

  • Accompaniment & Faithful Resistance

    We accompany immigrants and families impacted by detention, deportation, and immigration enforcement. Through programs like Compas at the Gates of ICE and Compas Guatemala, we offer presence, advocacy, know-your-rights support, and compassionate care during moments of fear, uncertainty, and reunification.
