Compas at the Gates of ICE
Compas at the Gates of ICE is a volunteer accompaniment ministry rooted in presence, compassion, and faithful resistance.
Volunteers stand with immigrants during ICE check-ins, immigration court dates, and other required appointments. In moments often marked by fear and uncertainty, we offer calm presence, emotional support, practical assistance, and community care.
Volunteers may help welcome families, distribute water and snacks, share know-your-rights information, accompany people into appointments, document concerns, or connect individuals with legal and community resources
Others help provide supplies to support this accompaniment ministry and the short-term hospitality that Casa Alterna offers to vulnerable immigrants.
We believe no one should face detention, deportation, or family separation alone. By showing up consistently and compassionately, volunteers help create spaces of dignity, solidarity, and hope in systems designed to isolate and intimidate.
No prior experience is required. Trainings are offered regularly for new volunteers.
