“Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” – Jesus at the Last Supper
When suffering comes, how do we respond? When loss gives us the choice of resentment or transformation, which do we choose?
Jesus is about to face humiliation, torture, and execution. Gethsemane shows Jesus’ agony. But Jesus is also determined to make this final week a holy closing statement.
“Love one another.”
Perhaps it was that simple mantra that gave Jesus the strength to love others from the cross. You see it when Jesus asks John to care for his mother, when he forgives his assailants, or when he says to another condemned man, “You will be with me.”
