Love in the time of coronavirus

Dedicated to the family of Santiago Baten-Oxlaj. Mr. Baten died of COVID-19 while detained at Stewart Detention Center.

Sitting in solitude beside Springer Mountain I mystically sense a gracious, indiscriminate love.

What we fear is the stranger; how sad this word finds harmony with danger.

How can we actively answer that of God in everyone when we’re not supposed to be with anyone?

God, my heart is pounding against my ribs

Great wings of divine destiny Take hold of my pierced soul.

I am troubled by calling the COVID-19 pandemic by any racist term.

God has left the building and is Graceland bound.
