The second Trump administration is rapidly and radically reshaping immigration policy. We’ve already seen the detention and deportation of green card holders, efforts to end birthright citizenship, mass deportations under wartime laws, and proposals to suspend habeas corpus for migrants.
We invite you to an important and timely public talk with Dr. Austin Kocher, a legal geographer at Syracuse University and former researcher with the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC). Dr. Kocher will provide a clear and critical breakdown of these developments.
This conversation will explore how these changes are unfolding across institutions, facing legal challenges in the courts, and transforming on-the-ground enforcement. It will also situate these shifts within a broader push for extraordinary executive authority, revealing how immigration policy is being used to blur legal boundaries, consolidate power, and redefine national belonging.
